The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has revealed that a sum of N26 billion has been mobilized for the construction of the Atan-Ikonga-Alapoti-Ado-Odo Road in Ogun State.

Senator Adeola made this known on Tuesday during the second edition of his Town Hall Meeting, Mega Empowerment, and Thank You Tour held in Ota, the administrative headquarters of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

He stated that the major road infrastructure, once completed, would significantly boost the economic and social development of communities across the local government.

“The Atan-Ikonga-Alapoti-Ado-Odo Road is one of the largest projects facilitated under my watch. N26 billion has been mobilized, and once completed, the road will open up Ado-Odo/Ota for greater commercial opportunities,” Adeola said.

The senator also disclosed that 15 road projects have already been completed under his constituency intervention programmes, while another 9 are currently ongoing at various locations within the local government area.

In what appears to be another major economic breakthrough for Ogun State, Senator Adeola announced that preparations are underway for the commencement of crude oil drilling in Tongeji Island, located in Ipokia Local Government Area.

“Ogun State is set to join the league of oil-producing states. Modalities are already in place for drilling to commence on Tongeji Island,” he said.

He credited the progress to the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the investment-friendly policies of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

“Under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria has seen a resurgence in foreign direct investment. Governor Abiodun, on his part, has transformed Ogun into the preferred destination for investors,” Adeola stated.

He added that the commencement of oil drilling in the state would not only boost the local economy but also contribute significantly to Nigeria’s overall crude oil production.

“The economic impact will be enormous. Ogun will witness rapid growth, and our national oil output will increase,” he affirmed.

Senator Adeola also took time to commend Governor Abiodun for the successful completion of the agro-cargo airport, the proposed dry sea port, and various infrastructural developments that have attracted major private sector investments.

“Governor Abiodun is setting a new standard for leadership. His vision and execution are commendable, and his legacy in infrastructural development will be long remembered,” he noted.

Speaking on his empowerment initiative, Adeola said he decided to decentralize the programme to ensure wider reach across the five local government areas in his senatorial district.

“This tour is also to thank the people of Ado-Odo/Ota for their overwhelming support during the 2023 general election. The empowerment is both a reward and a responsibility,” he added.

Highlighting his legislative contributions, Senator Adeola disclosed that he had sponsored 10 bills in the Senate within two years, 70 percent of which have passed the second reading.

“I remain committed to delivering quality representation and ensuring that Ogun West continues to benefit from federal presence,” he assured.
