As Ogun State rolls out the drums for the 22nd National Sports Festival tagged Gateway Games 2024, the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has warmly welcomed athletes, sports officials, and fans from across Nigeria.

In a goodwill message, Senator Adeola, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, described the event as a celebration of Nigeria’s unity, diversity, and youth potential.

He noted that the Games offer a critical platform for young talents to display their athletic prowess while forging enduring relationships.

“This festival is not just about medals or competition,” Senator Adeola said. “It’s about nurturing the spirit of unity, promoting national identity, and empowering our youth to dream beyond boundaries.”

The Senator specifically commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he termed a “remarkable demonstration of leadership and foresight” in the preparation for the festival.

He lauded the significant improvements made to sporting infrastructure, especially the MKO Abiola International Stadium and other key facilities, which he said reflect the administration’s commitment to youth development, tourism, and economic growth.

“The Gateway Games 2024 is a clear demonstration of what visionary and purposeful leadership can achieve. Ogun State is once again taking the lead, thanks to the transformational strides of Governor Dapo Abiodun,” he stated.

Senator Adeola encouraged athletes to compete with integrity, fairness, and sportsmanship, adding that the real victory lies in participation and character.

He also urged guests and participants to explore the culture, hospitality, and unique charm of the Gateway State, describing Ogun as a land of opportunity, heritage, and peace.

“I’m confident that this festival will leave a legacy—not only for Ogun but for the entire country,” he said.
