President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the mass abduction and killing of innocent residents in Niger State, describing the incident as a barbaric assault on defenceless Nigerians, while ordering an immediate coordinated operation to rescue those still in captivity.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President directed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other relevant security and intelligence agencies to mobilise immediately for the rescue operation.
He also ordered the Service Chiefs to provide regular briefings on the progress of the operation until all abducted persons are accounted for.
Tinubu expressed outrage over the attack and vowed that those responsible would face the consequences of their actions.
“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and enemies of humanity, who will not go scot-free,” the President said.
He condoled with families who lost loved ones in the attack and assured relatives of those abducted that the Federal Government would not abandon them.
“You are not alone. The entire nation shares your anguish. We will not rest until your sons, daughters, mothers and fathers are brought back safely to you,” Tinubu said.
The President further reassured Nigerians that his administration remained committed to protecting lives and communities, declaring that the latest attack would not weaken the nation’s resolve to confront insecurity.
“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life,” he said.
