Senator representing Ogun West and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has called on Nigerians to remain patient with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, insisting that the current economic reforms are already beginning to deliver positive results.

Speaking on Saturday during the 2nd Edition of his Town Hall Meeting, Mega Empowerment and Thank You Tour held at Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Senator Adeola described the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira as bold moves that rescued Nigeria’s economy from imminent collapse.

“President Tinubu took the necessary, tough decisions at the right time. The removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the naira were painful but inevitable to save our economy from total collapse,” Adeola stated.

He emphasized that the impact of these policies would soon be fully felt, adding, “I appeal to all Nigerians, particularly my people in Ogun West, to be patient. The gains are beginning to manifest and it can only get better.”

Highlighting his efforts at the National Assembly, Adeola said he had maximized his position as Appropriations Committee Chairman to attract significant developmental projects to Ogun West within less than two years.

“Through my interventions, we have constructed roads, installed power transformers, solar streetlights, built Primary Healthcare Centres, ICT Centres, ultra-modern markets, and police stations across Ogun West,” he said.

The senator further disclosed that another round of scholarship and bursary awards would soon be disbursed to 3,000 students across the six local government areas of Ogun West, with each scholarship recipient receiving N200,000 and bursary recipients N100,000.

“This is part of my commitment to human capital development. Education remains a major priority for me,” he added.

Senator Adeola also extended his appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his consistent support, especially towards the empowerment programmes initiated in the senatorial district.

“I thank His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, for his unwavering support for all our initiatives aimed at improving the lives of our people in Ogun West,” he said.

The empowerment train, which made a stop in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area on Friday, is expected to move to Yewa South, Ipokia, and Ado-Odo/Ota local government areas in the coming days.

Earlier in his remarks, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, commended Senator Adeola for bringing real dividends of democracy to Ogun West.

“Senator Adeola has shown what representation should be about — delivering tangible benefits to the people. Ogun West is proud of you,” Salako said.

The event witnessed the attendance of dignitaries including Senator Kola Bajomo, former senator representing Ogun West; Hon. Kayode Oladele, Commissioner, Federal Character Commission; Hon. Ogo Akinleye, Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission; Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun and Rt. Hon. Suraju Adekunmbi, both former Speakers of the Ogun State House of Assembly, alongside other top federal and state government officials.
