The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has described the defection of Hon. Wole Oke, member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as unsurprising and consistent with what it called his “erratic political conduct.”

In a strongly worded statement signed by the Osun PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, and made available to journalists on April 24, 2025, the party accused Hon. Oke of repeatedly placing personal ambition above party ideals and public service.

“Hon. Oke has long conducted himself like a pampered political stakeholder, more interested in being spoon-fed than earning his place through the rules of healthy competition,” the statement read.

The party emphasized that Oke’s movement to the opposition was not a betrayal, but rather the culmination of years of internal contradictions and disruptive behavior within the PDP.

“He habitually resorted to wild goose chases, abusing privileges conferred on him by the party and the good people of Obokun/Oriade, always fighting the winds in his characteristic scheming,” the PDP stated.

The release further noted that the lawmaker, who has benefited from the party’s platform for over two decades, showed little commitment to party loyalty or collective progress, describing his political history as one marked by “divisive tactics” and “self-serving pontifications.”

“This latest move only affirms what has always been evident — that he sees politics as a personal enterprise rather than a vehicle for public service,” Hon. Sunday Bisi stated.

Calling on party loyalists and constituents to remain united, the PDP urged its members, particularly those in Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, not to be distracted by what it termed Oke’s “predictable defection,” stressing the need to focus on the development strides of the PDP-led administration under Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“Politics must remain a game of the people, not a playground for selfish adventurism,” the statement concluded.
