Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, have apprehended a 28-year-old suspect, Samuel Aina Timothy, for allegedly vandalizing power infrastructure in the Isaku Community, Area 1, OPIC Estate.

This was made known in a statement released by the Corps Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

According to the statement, the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, during a routine patrol by a team from the Directorate of Liaison.

The officers reportedly received a tip-off from a vigilant resident who noticed suspicious activity around a high-tension power installation in the neighborhood.

“In a swift response to the information, the officers immediately proceeded to the reported location to assess the situation,” Commander Ganzallo stated.

Upon arrival, the patrol team caught the suspect in the act, perched on a high-tension pole, allegedly removing metallic fittings with a wheel spanner. He was seen placing the components into a sack believed to have once contained rice.

“When he saw the officers approaching, the suspect tried to flee but was promptly intercepted and arrested,” Ganzallo added.

A search of the suspect’s belongings led to the recovery of 58 steel components suspected to have been stolen from the power line, along with a wheel spanner and the rice sack used for concealment.

The Commander confirmed that the suspect, alongside the recovered exhibits, has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Agbara Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to public safety, Commander Ganzallo stressed: “We remain unyielding in our duty to keep Ogun State secure. This arrest demonstrates how valuable community cooperation is to our operations.”

He also commended residents who provide timely information, saying their efforts help reduce criminal activities across the state.
