The family of veteran Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has dismissed reports circulating on social media that her only child, Ayomikun, died from a bathroom accident abroad.
In an official statement issued on Friday and signed by the family’s spokesperson, Yemi Amodu, the family clarified that Ayomikun passed away after a brief illness in Ibadan, Oyo State, where he was receiving medical care.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Sola Ayomikun Omobolanle, a jewel and a rising star whose light touched many lives.”
“We wish to clearly state that Sola did not pass away as a result of any bathroom accident, contrary to false reports being circulated online.”
“He was briefly unwell and, during this period, received first-class medical care. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he peacefully answered the call of his creator. He passed away at a hospital in Ibadan and has since been laid to rest at Eternal Rest Home,” the statement read.
The family warned against the spread of misinformation, describing the claims of a bathroom fall as misleading and hurtful.
“These misleading stories not only dishonour his memory but also bring unnecessary pain to his loved ones,” Amodu added.
They expressed gratitude to industry colleagues, friends, and fans for their overwhelming support since the sad news broke.
“We strongly urge the public to disregard the unfounded claims being spread by some bloggers. We are comforted by the prayers and solidarity we have received and pray that no family experiences such a profound and untimely loss,” the statement concluded.
Ayomikun, who was Peju Ogunmola’s only son, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Ibadan. Tributes have continued to pour in from Nollywood colleagues and fans.
Actress Biola Adebayo described the news as devastating, saying, “This is a big loss. This is heartbreaking. May God comfort Mummy Peju Ogunmola who just lost her only child.”
