Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing infrastructure development as a major catalyst for industrialization and inclusive growth across the state.

Speaking during a town hall meeting and participatory forum for the preparation of the state’s 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2026 budget, held at the Bisi Rodipe Event Centre, Ijebu-Ode, the governor said massive investment in infrastructure would remain at the core of his government’s developmental agenda.

Governor Abiodun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, explained that citizens’ engagement in budget preparation plays a vital role in shaping policies that reflect the true needs of the people.

“Our administration is deliberate about using infrastructure to drive economic growth and attract industrial investment. Roads, bridges, and power facilities remain crucial to achieving our industrialization goals.”

“We will continue to invest in projects that connect communities, ease the movement of goods, and expand access to education, healthcare, and markets,” Abiodun said.

The governor highlighted the successes recorded under his administration’s ISEYA Development Agenda, noting that over 1,000 kilometres of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated across the three senatorial districts of the state since 2019.

Completed projects in the Ijebu axis, according to him, include the rehabilitation of Ikofa-Abapawa Road in Odogbolu, reconstruction of Igbeba Road/Talbort Yidi Lane and Awokoya Road in Ijebu-Ode, and construction of Odolewu–Lasesi–Isiwo Road in Odogbolu. Others are the parapet walls for Erinwa Bridge, dredging of Erinwa River, and renovation of the Ijebu-Ode–Epe Toll Gate.

He further listed ongoing projects in the zone, including the reconstruction of Imoru Road, Stadium Junction–Luba Road, Oshinubi (formerly Araromi) Road, Tam Balogun Road, and Iworo–Ogbogbo–Igbeba Road. Additional works, he said, are ongoing on Obalende–Abeokuta Road, Gao Junction–Ibiade Road in Ogun Waterside, and Ogbere–Orita–Imobi Junction Road in Ijebu East.

Abiodun also revealed that his administration had recorded another milestone with the commencement of commercial operations at the Gateway International Airport.

He added that plans were underway for the establishment of the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port to further strengthen the state’s transportation network and boost economic activities.

“In the health sector, we have renovated hospitals, installed solar power systems to improve reliability, and introduced Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) to enhance efficiency in service delivery,” he stated.

On education, the governor said the state government had rehabilitated science laboratories and technical colleges, introduced digital learning through the Progressive Science and Mathematics Initiatives (PSI/PMI), and distributed digital devices to teachers to improve teaching quality and learning outcomes.

He also spoke on the government’s commitment to youth development and sports, noting that events such as the Gateway Games and the African Athletics Championships have boosted tourism, created employment, and positioned Ogun State as a center of sporting excellence.

Abiodun added that his administration had continued to strengthen the agricultural sector through the revitalization of farm settlements, upgrading of processing facilities, and establishment of a Women Development Centre in Ijebu-Ode to promote skills acquisition and entrepreneurship among women.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, described the forum as a key step in participatory governance, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusion.

“This platform allows us to hear directly from the people. Their contributions will help us design a budget that addresses real challenges and aligns with the governor’s vision for sustainable development,” Olabimtan said.

Traditional rulers present at the event, including the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, HRH Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo, and the Daburewe of Idowa, Oba Adefuwape Okuribido, commended Governor Abiodun for his administration’s visible achievements, particularly in infrastructure and the newly completed airport project.

Oba Adebajo said, “The road network across Ijebuland has greatly improved, and this has enhanced trade and connectivity. The Gateway Airport is another legacy project that will open more opportunities for our people.”

In the same vein, Oba Okuribido praised the governor’s focus on youth empowerment, saying the state’s skills acquisition initiatives have helped reduce unemployment and improve livelihoods.

He added, “We can all see the impact of these projects. The people of Ogun are grateful for a government that listens and acts in the best interest of its citizens.”
