Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said the legacy of the late South-West Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Shakirat Adesanya, will continue to inspire future generations, describing her as a loyal party stalwart and exemplary grassroots mobiliser.

The governor spoke on Thursday at a Day of Songs and Tributes held in her honour at the Cinema Hall of the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, where political leaders, family members, and party supporters gathered to celebrate her life and service.

Abiodun said the late women leader devoted her life to the advancement of women, the strengthening of the APC, and the promotion of unity within the South-West political structure.

According to him, she combined loyalty with humility and a rare commitment to public service, which made her stand out among her peers.

“Chief Adesanya possessed remarkable strength of character, uncommon humility, and an enduring passion for public service. She was a compassionate leader who believed in uplifting others,” the governor said.

He added that her death was a painful loss to Ogun State, the APC, and the entire South-West region, noting that her influence at the grassroots level helped deepen political participation among women.

The governor further noted that her ability to mobilise and connect with people from different backgrounds contributed significantly to the growth of the party across the region.

“She contributed immensely to the strengthening of the APC through her strategic engagement and genuine concern for the welfare of others,” he added.

In his remarks, a representative of the National Chairman of the APC, Hon. Tolu Bankole, described the deceased as “an institution and a movement,” who served the party with integrity and dedication.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, said the late Adesanya remained a dependable ally of the legislature and a committed leader who gave her best to every cause she believed in.

The Ogun State Chairman of the APC, represented by the Deputy Chairman, Chief James Dina, said she was a voice of strength and a source of direction for women across the South-West.

A sermon titled “Remember You Have a Short Time” was delivered by Pastor Abolaji Olufemi of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, who urged attendees to reflect on the brevity of life and strive to make meaningful impact.

He described the late women leader as an exemplary figure who mentored younger generations and lived a life of service, compassion, and responsibility.

The event featured tributes from political associates, women groups, and community leaders who praised her enduring contributions to party growth and grassroots development across the South-West.
