Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday paid glowing tribute to his wife, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, as she marked her 60th birthday, describing her as a compassionate and selfless woman whose unwavering commitment to humanity has transformed countless lives.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service held in Lagos to commemorate the First Lady’s diamond jubilee, Abiodun thanked God for preserving her life and granting her the grace to attain the milestone.
The governor described his wife as a dependable partner whose support, wisdom, and devotion to family have remained a source of strength throughout their years together.
He also commended her humanitarian efforts, saying her advocacy for women, children, and vulnerable groups has continued to make meaningful impact across Ogun State and beyond.
“As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, I give thanks to Almighty God for His faithfulness and for preserving your life. My prayer is that He will continue to grant you sound health, divine wisdom, abundant grace, and many more fruitful years of impactful service to humanity,” the governor said.
Abiodun added that the First Lady’s life reflects enduring values of compassion, humility, integrity, and dedication to the common good, qualities he said have earned her admiration from many people.
In his tribute, Mrs. Abiodun’s father and former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Oladipo Oduye, thanked God for the opportunity to witness his daughter’s 60th birthday.
He described her as a responsible and accomplished woman who has remained committed to family values, excellence, and service to humanity.
“We are grateful to God for His faithfulness over your life. You have remained committed to the values of service, compassion, and excellence. May God continue to strengthen you for greater accomplishments,” Oduye said.
Delivering the sermon, Pastor Ben Akabueze of the Redeemed Christian Church of God described the attainment of 60 years as a testimony of God’s grace.
Preaching from Psalm 90:12, he likened the celebrant to a diamond, saying precious stones become valuable after passing through intense pressure.
“Just as a diamond passes through pressure before revealing its brilliance, six decades of life symbolise resilience, faith, perseverance, and strength. These virtues have been evident in Mrs. Abiodun’s commitment to God and her service to humanity,” the cleric said.
He urged Christians to live purpose driven lives and build legacies that would positively impact society.
The thanksgiving service was attended by family members, friends, political associates, senior government officials, and other well wishers, who gathered to celebrate the First Lady’s life and contributions to humanity.
