Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, through the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Tunji Disu, for the prompt deployment of an operational police aircraft to strengthen security across the state.
The governor said the deployment would reinforce ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities.
According to a statement issued by the Ogun State Government on Tuesday, the aircraft was deployed following Governor Abiodun’s request to bolster the state’s security architecture and support the ongoing Operation Kosaye, a joint security initiative targeting criminal hideouts across forests, border communities and other flashpoints.
Receiving the aircraft and its crew on behalf of the state government, the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, conveyed the governor’s appreciation to the Inspector General for the swift approval of the request.
Talabi said the deployment reflected the police leadership’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Ogun State.
“The Governor deeply appreciates the Inspector General of Police for his prompt response and unwavering commitment to the safety of lives and property in Ogun State,” he said.
He added that the operational aircraft would improve aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities of security agencies operating in the state.
“The deployment of this aircraft will significantly enhance aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities, complementing our ongoing efforts to rid Ogun State of criminal elements,” Talabi stated.
The SSG described the development as another indication of the strong collaboration between the Ogun State Government and security agencies, noting that the partnership had continued to deliver positive results in protecting residents and critical infrastructure.
According to him, the aircraft would provide a major boost to Operation Kosaye by supporting security personnel in flushing out kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements from identified hideouts across the state.
Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with the resources required to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
He stressed that the state government would continue to invest in security initiatives capable of guaranteeing peace, protecting lives and property, and creating an environment conducive to sustainable economic development.
