President Bola Tinubu has described the death of elder statesman and business magnate, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, as a great national loss, saying Nigeria has lost one of its most dedicated patriots and industrial icons.
Dantata, who passed away at the age of 94 in the early hours of Saturday, was celebrated for his outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s economy, public service, and philanthropy.
In a statement issued by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu mourned the Kano-born billionaire, praising his legacy of enterprise, patriotism, and commitment to national unity.
“With the death of Alhaji Dantata today, we lost a prominent business mogul, patriot, and elder statesman who contributed significantly to the growth and development of our nation,” Tinubu stated.
The President noted that Dantata’s life was marked by industry, diligence, and selfless service to humanity, particularly through his philanthropic efforts in education and healthcare.
Dantata, apart from his successful business ventures, also served as Commissioner for Planning and Development in the old Kano State, playing a notable role in public service.
Tinubu reflected on his personal relationship with the late mogul, saying his wise counsel and support were invaluable over the years.
“Alhaji Dantata will be remembered for his industry, diligence, steadfastness, and great commitment to national unity through his many business ventures and philanthropic activities that touched countless lives of Nigerians,” the President added.
Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family, the people of Kano State, and Nigerians at large, praying for the peaceful repose of the late businessman’s soul.
