Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of five officers and injuries to two others following an ambush by unidentified bandits in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area.
According to a statement on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the attack occurred on November 22, 2025, while combined police tactical units were on a visibility patrol to manage farmer–herder conflicts in the area.
The officers killed include Ahmad Muhammad (State Intelligence Department), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (Anti-Kidnapping Unit). Injured officers, Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo, are receiving medical attention.
“Upon receiving the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, led a reinforcement team to the scene, rescued the injured and evacuated the deceased to the General Hospital, Darazo,” Wakil said.
He added that efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the attackers. The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the scene, commiserated with the families of the slain officers, and reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
