Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has written to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, expressing readiness to support security arrangements in public schools across the state following rising concerns over school attacks.

The move comes weeks after coordinated assaults in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where pupils and teachers were abducted from several schools, heightening public anxiety over the safety of learning environments.

In a letter dated June 9, 2026, and addressed to the Commissioner for Education, with a copy sent to Governor Makinde, Igboho, through his outfit, Iru Ekun Private Security Limited, requested detailed information on all public schools and their locations to enable planned deployment.

The proposal stated that at least two trained operatives would be stationed in each identified public school across the state, with duties including guarding school premises, monitoring access points, engaging school authorities, and working with community vigilante groups to prevent criminal incursions.

The letter, jointly signed by Igboho and the legal adviser of the security network, Junaid Sanusi, also called on the state government to consider fencing public schools to strengthen perimeter security and ease monitoring efforts.

It further stressed that proactive measures were needed to prevent further attacks, noting that delays in preventive action could expose more students and teachers to avoidable risk.

Igboho’s proposal comes against the backdrop of a May 15, 2026 incident in which gunmen attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School in Oriire LGA, abducting scores of pupils and teachers.
