President Bola Tinubu will address Nigerians on Friday as part of activities marking Democracy Day, the Presidency announced on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the national broadcast will be aired at 7:00 a.m. on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria.
The statement noted that the address forms part of events lined up to commemorate Democracy Day, a day set aside to celebrate the country’s democratic journey and honour the sacrifices of pro-democracy activists.
The Presidency urged all television and radio stations across the country to hook onto the NTA and Radio Nigeria networks to relay the broadcast to Nigerians.
The statement read, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver a national address on Friday in commemoration of Democracy Day. The speech is scheduled to air on the network of Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria at 7:00 a.m.”
It added that all broadcast stations were requested to carry the transmission to ensure wider reach across the country.
Democracy Day is observed annually in Nigeria to commemorate the restoration of democratic governance and the historic June 12, 1993 presidential election, widely regarded as the freest and fairest in the nation’s history.
