The Senator representing Ogun West and Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Solomon Adeola, has restated his commitment to policies that prioritise workers’ welfare and sustainable economic reforms, as Nigeria marked the 2026 International Workers’ Day.

In a statement issued on Friday to commemorate the celebration, Adeola commended workers in Ogun State for their resilience, diligence and sacrifices amid prevailing economic challenges, noting that their contributions remain critical to national growth and development.

He said the dedication of workers across sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce and the civil service, had sustained the state’s economic strength, describing them as the driving force behind industrial hubs in Agbara, Ewekoro and Sagamu.

The lawmaker also aligned with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising ongoing reforms under the Renewed Hope agenda, including the approval of a new national minimum wage and interventions aimed at easing the burden on workers.

Adeola further lauded Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for implementing a N77,000 minimum wage for workers in the state, describing it as a step above the national benchmark and a demonstration of commitment to labour-friendly policies.

He added that his legislative efforts at the National Assembly had focused on facilitating investments in infrastructure, vocational training, MSME support, healthcare and education, all geared towards improving the standard of living for workers and their families.

“The labour of our people must produce prosperity in our time,” Adeola said, while urging continued collaboration between government and organised labour to achieve inclusive growth.

He wished Nigerian workers a fulfilling celebration and reaffirmed his dedication to advancing policies that would make work more rewarding across Ogun State and the country.
