The Ogun State House of Assembly has scheduled separate stakeholders’ meetings on two proposed bills aimed at strengthening agricultural development and improving reproductive healthcare in the state.

The Assembly, in a statement issued by the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, said the first public hearing would hold on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 10 a.m. on H.B. No. 022/OG/2025, the Ogun State Agricultural Advancement and Sustainability Bill, 2025.

According to the statement, the proposed legislation seeks to promote sustainable agricultural development, food security and economic growth through mechanisation, genetic improvement, rejuvenation of farm settlements, agricultural research, private sector participation, youth empowerment, improved market access, deployment of artificial intelligence and enhanced agricultural security.

Adebakin said the second stakeholders’ meeting would take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. on H.B. No. 036/OG/2026, the Ogun State Safe Termination of Pregnancy Law, 2026.

He explained that the bill is designed to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, promote safe motherhood and reproductive health rights, establish the legal conditions for the safe termination of pregnancy, and provide for related matters.

“The public hearing will assist the State lawmakers in assessing stakeholders’ input towards achieving effective and all-encompassing legislation,” Adebakin said.

He urged all invited stakeholders to arrive at the Assembly Complex and be seated by 9:30 a.m. on each of the two days to ensure the smooth conduct of the hearings.

The Assembly said the consultations form part of its legislative process to encourage public participation and ensure that laws passed by the House reflect the interests and aspirations of the people of Ogun State.
