The Ogun State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to continuous staff development through regular capacity-building and retraining programmes aimed at enhancing service delivery.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, made this known on Thursday during the opening of a one-day training programme for all categories of staff at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Represented by the Clerk and Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, the Speaker said the Assembly leadership considered learning and relearning as critical components of building a highly effective legislative workforce.

He explained that the quarterly training initiative was designed to ensure that members of staff remain professionally equipped to meet the demands of their responsibilities and deliver quality service.

Elemide noted that the workshop would provide participants with opportunities to sharpen their skills and adapt to the evolving demands of modern governance and administration.

According to him, “The Assembly places high value on continuous learning because an effective workforce is essential to achieving excellence in legislative service delivery. These quarterly training programmes are meant to keep our staff updated and professionally prepared for emerging challenges.”

The Speaker also appreciated the resource persons for their contributions to the Assembly’s efforts to strengthen the capacity of its workforce through knowledge sharing and professional development.

He added, “We will continue to invest in human capital development as a way of promoting efficiency, productivity and effective legislative service delivery across all departments of the Assembly.”

The workshop featured specialised sessions for different categories of staff, covering areas such as time management, financial regulations, digital transformation, communication skills, records management and workplace professionalism.
