The Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, on Tuesday said the state’s economy had grown from about N3tn to N17tn under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Akinmade attributed the growth to the peaceful and secure environment created by the state government, saying the administration’s deliberate policies had attracted investments and boosted economic activities across the state.

Speaking with journalists in Abeokuta on the achievements of the administration over the past seven years, Akinmade described peace and stability as one of the major accomplishments of the Abiodun-led government.

According to him, the governor’s commitment to security and social harmony has provided the foundation for socio-economic growth and infrastructural development.

He said, “One thing you cannot take away from this administration is the peace and stability that we are enjoying in Ogun State. Anywhere you go in the state, you can breathe the air of freedom, safety, and peace.

“This did not happen by accident. It is the result of deliberate government policies and sustained efforts aimed at creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive, investments can flourish, and citizens can live productively.”

Akinmade noted that the peaceful atmosphere had continued to attract local and foreign investors, leading to the establishment of new industries and expansion of existing businesses.

He added, “Ogun State’s economy has grown remarkably from about N3 trillion to N17 trillion under Governor Abiodun’s leadership,” describing the state as one of the fastest-growing economies in the country.

The governor’s aide said the administration’s ISEYA development agenda had driven infrastructure development, improved social services, enhanced education, empowered youths and women, and boosted agricultural productivity.

He disclosed that more than 1,700 kilometres of roads had been constructed, reconstructed, and rehabilitated across the state’s 20 local government areas, improving connectivity and economic activities.

Akinmade also highlighted the development of housing estates in different parts of the state and the construction of a modern airport, which he said recently facilitated the airlift of Ogun pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.

He further credited the administration with achievements in agriculture, technology, skills acquisition, and youth empowerment, citing the establishment of Ogun TechHub as a major investment in innovation and digital development.

According to him, Governor Abiodun has also completed several abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations, demonstrating prudent management of public resources.

“Governor Abiodun is committed to consolidating on the gains already recorded and ensuring that the state continues on the path of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development. His goal is to leave Ogun State better, stronger, and more competitive than he met it,” Akinmade stated.
