The Ogun State Chapter of the Military and Paramilitary Public Relations Forum (MILPOPROF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Route Commander (CRC) Florence Nkenu Okpe, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command.

Okpe, a seasoned and respected communicator, reportedly passed away on Monday, October 28, 2025, at about 7:00 a.m., leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, humility, and dedication to service.

According to a statement signed by the Chairperson of MILPOPROF, CSP Omolola Odutola, the forum received the news of Okpe’s death with great shock and sadness.

“Florence was not just a colleague, she was a friend, a sister, and a consummate professional who carried out her duties with integrity, grace, and empathy. Her death is a monumental loss to the communication family within the security sector,” Odutola said.

Born on December 31, 1974, the late CRC Okpe joined the Federal Road Safety Corps in 1998 as a young and disciplined officer. Her exceptional performance and commitment to the ideals of the Corps earned her conversion to a Cadet Officer in 2005. Over the years, she served meritoriously in several commands across Nigeria, including Edo, Lagos, and Ogun States.

In Ogun, she served as the State Public Education Officer, where she coordinated campaigns, public sensitization, and road safety advocacy with admirable eloquence and professionalism.

Until her death, she was the Sector Public Education Officer (SPEO) for the RS2 Command.

During a condolence visit to the FRSC Ogun State Command, members of MILPOPROF signed the condolence register and extended their sympathies to the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwumi Oladapo Fasakin, and all officers of the Command.

“Florence represented the finest ideals of ethical public communication. She was calm, thorough, and ever committed to promoting safety, discipline, and truth,” Odutola added.

CRC Okpe, fondly called “Florence” by colleagues and friends, was widely respected for her soft-spoken nature and calm disposition. Her colleagues described her as a dependable officer whose passion for educating the public about road safety remained unmatched.

She is survived by her husband and three children.
