In commemoration of this year’s Children’s Day, the Daramola Dynasty Foundation (DDF) has brought renewed hope to students of Iyankan High School, Isara Remo, Ogun State, through the launch of a transformative literacy project tagged “Tools to Learn, Wings to Fly”.

The initiative, unveiled on May 30, 2025, was aimed at tackling educational inequality and fostering a vibrant reading culture among schoolchildren.

At the heart of the project was the renovation and equipping of the school’s dilapidated library, which had long been abandoned and underutilized.

Once a dusty and forgotten space, the library has now been transformed into a vibrant hub of learning complete with fresh furnishings, reading tables, chairs, and shelves lined with carefully curated books designed to stretch the minds and imagination of the students.

Speaking at the launch, Operations Manager of the foundation, Adedoyin Adeeso, said the project goes beyond donating books and beautifying a room.

“This is more than a book-filled room. Science has proven time and again that a reading culture improves not only academic outcomes but long-term quality of life. Readers are better thinkers, better problem solvers, and more confident contributors to society.”

“What we did today reflects our commitment to SDG 4—Quality Education. It’s a promise that no child, regardless of where they’re born, should be left behind in the pursuit of knowledge,” she said.

The event featured a range of educational activities including a spelling bee competition, motivational talks, and interactive reading session, all designed to boost students’ confidence and rekindle their interest in learning.

In a symbolic effort to bridge the digital divide, a brand new laptop was donated to the school during the event, providing a valuable resource for both students and teachers in an age of growing reliance on digital tools.

In recognition of excellence, high-performing students were also presented with cash prizes for their academic achievements, discipline, and dedication to learning.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the school, Vice Principal Mrs. Ikumapayi described the gesture as a lifeline for the students and a morale boost for the entire school community.

“This for us went beyond the improvement in facilities.”

“It’s the kind of support that reminds our students they matter. It gives them wings and shows them they can be anything they choose to be,” she said.
