The Osun State Police Command has invited the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, for questioning over his alleged comment directing members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to “kill” Accord Party members during the ongoing political activities in the state.
The invitation followed widespread reactions to a viral video in which Fadahunsi was alleged to have made the controversial statement during an APC campaign programme in Ilesa, Osun State, on Tuesday.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, and signed by the Commissioner of Police, Elections, in Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, the senator was directed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Osogbo, by 11am on Wednesday, August 12.
According to the police, the invitation was necessary to enable Fadahunsi to clarify the circumstances surrounding the statement, which the command described as threatening, inciting and intimidating.
The letter read in part, “The invitation is premised on information in possession of the Nigeria Police alleging that during your address at the aforementioned programme, you made statements considered to be threatening, inciting and intimidating in nature, and the statement has already been in circulation on various electronic and social media platforms.”
The development comes amid heightened political tension in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with rival political camps trading accusations over alleged threats and inflammatory statements.
Fadahunsi is expected to appear before the police authorities in Osogbo to explain the circumstances surrounding the statement and respond to the allegations against him.
