The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has commended the Igede community in the State for promoting peaceful coexistence and unity, urging them to continue fostering harmony and mutual respect within their host communities.
Rt. Hon. Elemide gave the commendation today while hosting the Ad’Igede One in Ogun State, Chief Samuel Onwuna, alongside members of his delegation, during a courtesy visit to the Assembly Complex at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The Speaker appreciated the role of the Igede people in maintaining peaceful relationships with other residents across the State, encouraging them to uphold respect for the traditions and culture of their host communities.
“Ogun State is known for peace and accommodation. I want to commend the Igede community for being part of that legacy. Let us all continue to live as one family, respecting each other’s cultures and ensuring peace prevails across our communities,” Elemide stated.
He assured the delegation of the Assembly’s support towards promoting inclusiveness, unity, and peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups residing in the State.
Earlier in his remarks, the Ad’Igede One of Ogun State, Chief Samuel Onwuna, expressed appreciation to the Speaker and members of the Assembly for their intervention in resolving past leadership disputes within the Igede community in the State.
Chief Onwuna described Ogun as one of the most accommodating States in Nigeria, lauding the Assembly’s efforts at fostering unity and peaceful coexistence.
“We appreciate the Assembly for standing with us during our leadership challenges. Ogun people have shown us love, and the State remains a home to all. We seek your continued support for our programmes and activities that will promote peace and development,” Onwuna added.
