President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, with former Zamfara State governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, appointed as Director-General.
Tinubu’s appointment and the composition of the campaign council were contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Shettima will be vice chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as vice chairman, while Yari will coordinate the campaign as director-general.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State was named secretary of the council. APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.
The President will be supported by a team of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran politician, Chief Segun Osoba; former Imo State governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, were appointed deputy director-generals for the South and North.
They will work with Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in the two zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as deputy director-general for administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.
Faleke will coordinate zonal directors comprising Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North East.
The election planning directorate will have Ms Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori as secretaries.
In the legal directorate, Muiz Adeyemi Banire was named director, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members include Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, was appointed coordinating director for media and strategic communication.
He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu, who were named alongside other officials as coordinating deputy directors.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries of the media directorate.
Segun Dada was appointed Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as secretary of the New Media directorate.
The campaign council also appointed five spokespersons, led by Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
Charging members of the council to work towards victory for the APC, Tinubu urged the various directorates to also reach out to party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign.
The President said his administration had delivered on its campaign promises and placed the country on a path of economic progress, urging the campaign team to communicate the administration’s achievements to Nigerians.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said.
He added that the campaign should showcase the administration’s record and inspire hope among Nigerians, while urging members of the council to work towards defeating opposition forces seeking to return the country to the past.
