Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed support for the tax reform bills recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu, saying the move will ease the burden on low-income earners and stimulate economic growth.
Abiodun described the reforms as a major milestone, noting that they will provide relief for ordinary Nigerians, support small businesses, improve revenue generation, and simplify tax processes across the country.
The governor commended the President for embracing broad-based consultations before signing the bills, saying the inputs of diverse groups, including the business community and the Nigerian Governors Forum, were accommodated.
Abiodun explained that the reforms will ensure a fairer distribution of VAT revenue, allowing states to fund more development projects independently.
“The bills have been well thought out, grounded in research, and reflective of Nigerians’ desire for fairness and transparency in tax administration,” Abiodun said.
He stressed that the new tax regime would attract investment, enhance ease of doing business, and encourage job creation, adding that all Nigerians should be proud of the development.
“The message really is that good times are ahead for all Nigerians,” Abiodun added.
