The event, themed “Building Resilient Leadership and Management Models for Traffic Personnel/Managers in Ogun State,” brought together key stakeholders to celebrate two decades of the agency’s service to the state.

The Deputy Governor described TRACE as more than a law enforcement body, noting that the agency had become an essential part of Ogun’s public safety framework by educating motorists, managing traffic congestion, and ensuring swift emergency responses across the state.

According to her, “These symposium and conference are not just ceremonial gatherings, they are strategic platforms to enhance the skills of officers, promote professionalism, and reimagine the future of traffic management in Ogun State.”

She acknowledged the continuous support of Governor Dapo Abiodun towards TRACE, especially the recent approval for the recruitment of 1,000 additional officers to strengthen the agency’s operations.

Also speaking, the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Security, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka, congratulated TRACE on its 20th anniversary, urging the agency to sustain its record in traffic safety and adopt new innovations for better service delivery.

In the same vein, the Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, described TRACE as one of the most effective traffic management agencies in Nigeria, applauding its dedication to protecting lives on the roads.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, (AIG) Shola Subair (Rtd), pledged continued support for TRACE, adding that the training sessions will broaden officers’ knowledge in traffic enforcement and public safety.

Traditional rulers and security agencies were also present to celebrate the milestone. The Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, praised TRACE for its role in saving lives, urging officers to remain committed to their responsibilities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, represented by DCP Sarah Ehindero, alongside heads of NSCDC and FRSC in the state, commended TRACE for its synergy with other security agencies, stressing that their collective efforts have contributed significantly to road safety.

Pioneer TRACE Commander, Major Dapo Sunmola (Rtd), recounted the agency’s humble beginnings and expressed satisfaction over its growth and achievements.

Earlier, the TRACE Commandant, Commander Seni Ogunyemi, said despite challenges, the agency has remained committed to its core values, attributing its successes to the dedication of officers and the support of the present administration.

He appreciated the government’s approval to recruit 1,000 new officers, which he said will further strengthen the agency’s workforce for better service to Ogun residents.
