Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has congratulated the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba (Dr.) Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, on his emergence as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Traditional Rulers.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the Senate and is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 election, said the Alake’s experience and leadership qualities would be valuable to the council and the state.
The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, expressed confidence that the monarch would deploy his wealth of experience in public service and community development to promote unity and peaceful development among traditional rulers in Ogun State.
Adeola said, “I am sure that the highly revered and enlightened royal father will bring his wealth of experiences in public service and community development to bear on his new leadership position for all monarchs for the peaceful development of Ogun State.”
The APC governorship candidate also noted that the Alake’s tenure would coincide with another general election season, making his role particularly important in promoting peace and responsible civic participation across the state.
He urged the monarch to use his position to encourage traditional rulers to mobilise their subjects to maintain peace and exercise their franchise in accordance with the rules and regulations governing elections.
“As traditional authority is closer to the people, the Alake will have an important role to play in advocating peaceful elections in the state and ensuring that all elections are conducted in an atmosphere devoid of violence,” Adeola said.
Adeola further commended the Alake’s leadership acumen, expressing confidence that the new chairman would provide wise counsel to government officials and contribute to good governance in Ogun State.
He prayed for divine wisdom, sound health and strength for the monarch as he assumes the responsibility of leading the state’s traditional rulers.
The emergence of Oba Gbadebo as chairman follows the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past chairman of the Ogun State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Olugbenle, MFR.
Governor Dapo Abiodun also recently inaugurated the Alake as chairman of the state’s Council of Obas, charging traditional rulers with responsibilities in tackling insecurity and promoting stability in the state.
