Ogun State Government has formally announced that the final burial rites for the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, will take place today, Monday, July 14, 2025.
According to the statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the ceremony is scheduled to hold at exactly 4 pm at Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode.
The late monarch, widely revered for his decades of service to Ijebuland and Ogun State, joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 91.
Talabi, in the statement issued on behalf of the state government, called on residents across Ogun to remember the family of the departed king in their prayers, describing the Awujale as a symbol of stability and tradition who will be sorely missed.
“Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona was not just a traditional ruler. He was a father figure, a cultural icon, and a custodian of values whose legacy will continue to inspire generations,” the statement read.
