The Confederation of African Football has condemned what it described as unacceptable behaviour by some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 quarter-final matches involving Cameroon against hosts Morocco, as well as Algeria versus Nigeria.
CAF, in a statement issued on Monday, said it had reviewed match reports and video evidence relating to the incidents and has formally opened an investigation.
The matters have been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board, which will determine appropriate sanctions if any individuals are found guilty of wrongdoing.
According to the football governing body, the investigation covers incidents that occurred during and after the quarter-final fixtures, with particular attention on actions directed at match officials and organisers.
CAF stressed that such behaviour falls short of the professional standards expected at its competitions.
The continental body also disclosed that it is reviewing footage of a separate incident involving members of the media who allegedly misbehaved in the mixed zone area following the matches.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organisers,” the statement said, adding that firm action would be taken against anyone whose conduct violates CAF regulations.
The TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 has entered its decisive stage, with tensions high as teams battle for a place in the semi-finals.
CAF reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, respect, and fair play throughout the tournament.
