The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully dismantled a notorious car-snatching and armed robbery syndicate following a series of coordinated operations across Abuja.
Acting on credible intelligence and digital forensic reconstruction, the Command arrested four suspects and recovered six stolen vehicles alongside over ₦15 million in cash.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrests in an official statement on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She noted that initial recoveries were made by the Jabi, Gwagwalada, and Mabushi Police Divisions, which retrieved three stolen vehicles.
The elite Scorpion Squad later expanded the investigation, arresting additional suspects and recovering three more vehicles, along with a large sum of money.
The recovered cars included a black 2008 Toyota Prado (RSH 967 JJ) from Jabi, a grey 2009 KIA Optima (RMY 88 AA) from Mabushi, a grey Toyota Corolla from Gwagwalada, and three others retrieved by the Scorpion Squad: a grey Toyota Corolla (JUX 890 AA), an ash-coloured Toyota Camry (APR 459 AE), and a black Toyota Corolla (578 AA).
Among those apprehended were Dalhatu Bashiru, an ex-convict, Nwadigo Emmanuel, Uchenna Kalu, and Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, who was caught in Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State with ₦15,280,000 reportedly intended for resale of stolen vehicles.
Investigations revealed Jazuli collaborated with Alhaji Abdulkarim Gabeida Ibrahim from Niger Republic, who remains at large while authorities continue pursuit.
FCT Police Commissioner, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, commended the officers involved, saying, “I commend our men and women for their relentless efforts in securing the Federal Capital Territory.
He also urged vehicle owners to install tracking devices for quick recovery in case of theft.
All suspects and recovered exhibits remain in police custody as investigations continue to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.
