The Osun State Police Command has recovered dismembered human remains suspected to belong to a missing female officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, SRC OO Lasisi, bringing a tragic twist to the search that began days earlier.

The remains were found in a river near Iwoye-Ijesa on Monday, November 17, 2025, and formally communicated to FRSC authorities the following morning.

FRSC spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, said in a statement that “the police had formally communicated the discovery of the dismembered body to the sector commander in the early hours of Tuesday, 18 November 2025”.

He explained that the sector commander met with the state commissioner of police shortly after the notification to obtain a detailed briefing on the investigation.

According to him, “extensive surveillance, phone tracking and coordinated intelligence operations led to the arrest of one herbalist in Iloko-Ijesa after he initially fled Iwoye-Ijesa”.

Investigators said the herbalist claimed that the officer was allegedly lured, killed and dismembered by one Victor, who was said to be in a relationship with the deceased, along with other accomplices currently on the run.

Police added that Victor abandoned his vehicle along the Gbongan–Ibadan expressway to give the impression of a kidnapping and divert suspicion.

The search for the officer’s missing child is still ongoing. The herbalist alleged that Victor retrieved the child from his residence before disappearing, deepening concerns over the child’s safety.

The recovered remains have been deposited at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital mortuary, while police have requested a post-mortem examination and DNA test to confirm identity.

FRSC has also reached out to the officer’s husband, who resides in the United States, to assist with the forensic process.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, who described the development as devastating, said, “This is a heartbreaking loss for the corps. We commend the Nigeria Police Force for their swift investigative efforts and extend our deepest condolences to the family of SRC OO Lasisi. We pray earnestly that the missing child is found safe and reunited with her loved ones.”

Both the FRSC and the police have appealed to the public to provide any useful information that could assist investigators.

They urged anyone with credible details to contact the Osun State Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit or the FRSC Osun Sector Command.
