Residents of the Magboro–Makogi community in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area have commended the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for the ongoing construction of the 8.17-kilometre Magboro–Makogi Road, urging the government to ensure speedy completion of the project.
The residents, who expressed delight over the quality of work being done, described the initiative as a long-awaited intervention that would ease transportation challenges, open up the corridor for business, and boost property value in the area.
During an inspection of the project on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, assured residents of the state government’s readiness to deliver the project promptly, saying he had directed the contractor to intensify efforts and take advantage of the dry season.
“The government is determined to ensure this project is delivered promptly and to the highest quality. With the rains now subsiding, I have instructed the contractor to accelerate construction so that residents can begin to enjoy the benefits of this new road as soon as possible,” Akinsanya said.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, Mr. Uche Okoro and Alhaji Wasiu Sanusi thanked Governor Abiodun for his commitment to infrastructural renewal across the state, noting that the road had remained a nightmare for years before the government’s intervention.
“This project is a huge relief to us. We have suffered from poor road conditions for too long. The governor has shown that he listens to the people. All we ask now is for the work to be completed quickly,” Okoro stated.
Similarly, Sanusi commended the quality of work being executed, saying it reflects the governor’s seriousness toward community development.
“We are impressed with the pace and standard of work. Once completed, this road will not only make movement easier but also boost trade and investment in this axis,” he added.
The Project Manager, Mr. Jason Zhang, also confirmed that construction is progressing steadily, assuring that the road will be completed according to specifications and delivered on schedule.
Residents described the project as a symbol of good governance and an example of a government that responds to the needs of its people.
