Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, who represents Ogun West, has described the death of Mr Segun Awolowo as a national tragedy and a personal loss, saying the news of his passing came to him with deep shock.
The statement, released on Thursday by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, said Segun Awolowo lived a life marked by intelligence, warmth and a rare sense of grace that endeared him to many.
In the statement, the Senator said, “Segun Awolowo embodied the highest ideals of public service. From his early days in legal practice to his distinguished roles under Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, to his impactful leadership as Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, and most recently as the National Coordinator of the Nigeria AfCFTA Coordination Office, he consistently served with integrity, courage and an exceptional sense of duty.”
He added that the country has lost a national asset whose work strengthened development in ways that would remain visible for years. “Nigeria has lost a man whose contributions were measurable and lasting. His service to the nation was driven by uncommon commitment,” the Senator said.
While noting that Segun Awolowo’s time on earth was brief, Senator Adeola said his legacy remains meaningful and enduring.
He sent condolences to his wife, children and the entire Awolowo family, praying that God comforts them and grants the late Segun Awolowo eternal rest.
