Prince Bimbo Olasore, a distinguished son of Iloko Ijesa, was on Monday installed as the 19th President and Chairman of Council of the British Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The ceremony, held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, drew a gathering of diplomats, government officials, business leaders and members of the Olasore community.
The event was chaired by former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN. In his remarks, he commended the Chamber for its steady role in strengthening business relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
He added that the emergence of Olasore marked another step toward expanding opportunities for trade and investment.
The Lagos State Governor was represented by the Deputy Governor. He assured the gathering that the state government would continue to support initiatives that drive economic growth.
He described Olasore’s elevation as well deserved, noting his experience, service record and contributions to the development of commerce.
Also present was the Deputy British High Commissioner to Nigeria, who stressed the value of deepening ties between both countries.
He expressed confidence that the new leadership would expand collaboration in key sectors, foster innovation, and open more channels for investors.
A royal presence added colour to the ceremony as the Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, attended with the Aremo Owaloko, Sir Tolulope Omoniyi. Their attendance drew admiration from guests who saw it as a symbol of pride for the Iloko community.
Family members, friends, industry experts and well wishers filled the hall as they celebrated what many described as a moment of honour for the new president and for Iloko Ijesa.
The atmosphere was lively, with guests acknowledging the historic significance of Olasore’s emergence and the promise of renewed direction for the Chamber under his leadership.
