Senator Solomon Adeola has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Musbau Ayinde Olayiwola Obanla, fondly called Baba Obanla, a respected community figure in Ipokia and a strong political voice in Ogun West.
Baba Obanla died in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness. He was 80.
In a condolence message issued by his media adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, the senator described the loss as a painful blow to him personally and to the people of Ogun West.
According to him, “his passage is a personal loss not only to me as the Senator of Ogun West Senatorial District, but it is indeed a loss to the good people of Ipokia Local Government, Ogun West and the entire people of Ogun State where he was a committed and active member of the Elders Council of the state.”
He added that Baba Obanla remained committed to his political aspiration throughout his lifetime.
Senator Adeola acknowledged the late elder’s service to Ogun State and Nigeria in various capacities, including his roles as District Council Officer in charge of Education in Ipokia, Purchasing Manager at West Africa Portland Cement Company, pioneer Administrative Manager of Portland Transport Sagamu, Vice Chairman of Ipokia Local Government in 2004 and Chairman of Ipokia Council Transition Committee.
Until his passing, Baba Obanla was a member of the Governing Council of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo, and a member of the Ogun State Elders Advisory Council established by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Senator Adeola prayed for the peaceful rest of his soul and asked God to grant his family the strength to bear what he described as an irreparable loss.
