The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party has condemned the attack on the party’s National Secretariat by what it described as expelled members.

This was contained in a press release personally signed by the BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, PhD.

According to the statement, the BoT said the invaders stormed the Secretariat on Tuesday, November 18, accompanied by compromised security personnel and armed thugs.

The Board said the attackers “unleashed violence on party members in an attempt to forcefully take over the complex.”

The BoT expressed concern that the group allegedly attempted to stop the newly elected National Working Committee led by the National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, from entering the premises despite being in the company of Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and other leaders.

The statement added that “tear gas was fired at the governors and party leaders while thugs carried out acts of unrestrained violence within the Secretariat.”

The Board also faulted the presence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, who was described as “also expelled from the party.” The BoT said Wike arrived “with heavy security in apparent solidarity with the invaders.”

Senator Wabara commended the courage and resolve of the governors, NWC members, BoT members and supporters who resisted the attack.

He said, “The BoT stands firmly with the new NWC in full endorsement of the outcome of the Elective National Convention held in Ibadan on the 15th and 16th of November 2025.”

The BoT stressed that the Convention was convened in strict compliance with the party constitution, electoral guidelines and relevant laws.

It said, “The Convention represents the collective will of delegates and stakeholders of the PDP across the country,” while describing the statements and media comments by expelled individuals as “mischievous and a direct assault on the principle of internal democracy.”

The Board called on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the attack and “ensure that those responsible are held to account,” noting that democracy can only thrive when institutions remain impartial and professional.

Reaffirming its role, the BoT added, “As the conscience of the party, we remain committed to safeguarding the unity and democratic values of the PDP.” It urged the new NWC to remain focused as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
